Making a Lasting Power of Attorney
There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA); health & welfare and property & financial. When you make an LPA you appoint one or more Attorneys who would deal with your affairs in the event that you are no longer able to do so yourself through lack of mental capacity, illness or accident. An LPA is separate from your Will and ceases to exist in the event of your death.
Making an LPA now can save your family from upsetting difficulties and financial costs in the future should the need arise for them to step in and look after your affairs on your behalf. In that event an application would have to made to the Court of Protection for a Deputyship Order.
Lasting Powers of Attorney can be revoked or cancelled at any time so long as you have the capacity to make that decision and we can assist you in that regard also.
We can also assist appointed Attorneys in the day to day administration of the affairs of the person for whom they have power of Attorney.
