What are first registrations of land and how can our agricultural solicitors help?
A Voluntary First Registrations
A first registration is voluntary when you already own the land, and you want to register it with the Land Registry. You might want to do this so you can prove ownership of your land.
When you go through the first registrations process, the land will be registered on the new online title registration system held by the Land Registry.
Compulsory First Registrations
A first registration is compulsory when land is transferred, often through sale or inheritance, or mortgaged. A gift of the property, a court order or a change in a trust affecting the land will also trigger a compulsory registration.
We can help you with either process of registering your land with the Land Registry. If you are unsure as to whether your property is registered, this can easily be checked by our team who can carry out a search at the Land Registry.
